Planet Cake!
I am really excited to share with you some of the images that we crafted for Rachel and her team from Planet Cake! It was an all-round success after some very hard work and a few flashes of genius!
Soft and seductive with pink rose petals
We met at the National Wedding Show at Olympia in February where they were being mobbed by aficionados and admirers. We agreed that it would be fun to bring some of their new offerings down to the studio and spend a day ‘cake-shooting’ – so we did.
It is really important that you are not guessing the flavours
We set up the studio, building a massive polystyrene archway under which we could bounce a load of light but still leave ourselves free to shoot long through to different backgrounds. Cake types were styled in different ways so that a theme begins to emerged.
The sugar orchids are astonishingly lifelike
It was not possible to shoot all the styles that they cover on their site as many of their cakes are only on the planet for a short time!
Reflections add depth and show the attention to detail
Ross and Oliver worked through the day, from scenario to scenario to create a collection of images that help bring Planet Cake to the boil. Rachel was thrilled, decided that we had created a style that she likes and that we will continue to build up images of her collection over time. We are thrilled too!
